Andy and I have a brand new baby nephew! Jackson Loyer Bartling was born at 3:15 PM today, July 16, 2004. He weighs 6 lbs 12 oz, and has light hair which will most likely be red. He is very healthy, and everything looks great. Now comes the waiting. Vanessa, the birth mom, has until Monday afternoon before she can sign the papers to allow Jon and Mindy to adopt Jackson. My sister-in-law was able to be in the delivery room, and they even put the baby's footprints on her hospital gown for her to bring home. She has held him, and my brother will have a chance to hold him soon. Then, they go home and wait until Vanessa calls to say she is ready for them to come and get the baby. We would appreciate your prayers for their mental well-being and sanity during what will most definitely be the longest weekend of their lives so far. Mindy said that whoever thinks that adoption is easy because you don't have to go through labor has obviously never adopted. Nonetheless, we are trusting in the Lord to do what is right for all involved, and we feel blessed either way because of the new life he has formed.

We got a house! We went out with our realtor on Saturday, and this was the first house on our agenda. It hasn't been on the market very long. It is at 2018 Hackberry Lane and you can see pictures of it by visiting www.realtracs.com and entering MLS number 608272. The house is 1878 sq feet, and used to have a separate apartment upstairs. That's why there are two front doors, and two kitchens. We have a lot of great ideas for the house, and are so excited about it. Our closing date is August 6. Of course we still have to go through the inspection and finish all of the financing paperwork, but I don't foresee any problems. So, sometime in September we'll have everyone over! This is a new time in our lives, and we are glad to have you as a part of it!
